Animal Farm is a satirical allegorical novella by George Orwell about a group of farm animals who overthrow their human farmer to create a society where all animals are equal, but the pigs eventually seize power and become a new, more oppressive ruling class. The story follows the rise of the pigs, Napoleon and Snowball, and their subsequent power struggle, which culminates in Napoleon taking total control, expelling Snowball, and manipulating the other animals. Through the pigs’ transformation into human-like figures, the novella serves as a critique of the corruption of power and the Russian Revolution‘s betrayal of its initial ideals under Joseph Stalin.
